Dear Morris,

This was definitely the most difficult month to get photos of you yet as you try out all your newfound tricks and skills (and never stop moving)... but alas, they turned out some of my favorite yet! Those two little teeth!

So much happened in the last four weeks. You’ve lived every part of it right alongside us, somehow keeping mama and papa extra busy while also reminding us to slow down and enjoy every moment with you. You started making your new home in Haarlem really feel like home and discovering new parts of the neighborhood and city. You had your first swim lesson and some pretty special papa days, days with oma and opa, and your first days at daycare while mama went back to work. This also came with catching your first little cold and stomach bug. They didn’t slow you down!

In the last few weeks your quick little army crawl turned into crawling on your knees, you started pulling yourself up to stand on objects, and started going from standing to crawling to sitting to standing again as you move around every room you’re in! We definitely have to keep a closer eye on you as you explore and touch everything and just recently had to lower your crib when you all of a sudden stood up in it with the cheekiest grin!

You’re trying lots of different solid foods now, smaller versions of what mama eats most of the time! You still love banana, avocado and sweet potato most, making the sweetest little sounds as you eat them, but are getting used to more meats, eggs, yogurt, and grains now too! Strawberries and blueberries aren’t a favorite. You make the funniest faces! There are many theories and books about how babies should be introduced to food. Mama’s read and done her best but of course, no matter how much time she has spent reading, pureeing, peeling, steaming, and chopping fresh little meals... she’s pretty sure your favorite thus far was a chicken/veggie dinner straight out of a baby food jar and a big reminder to her to not stress too much about it

You love splashing in the bath, knocking down stacked towers, playing in boxes, making loud voices back and forth, walking around holding mama and papa’s hands, falling asleep to music, and are always reaching for the books on your book shelf. As you continue to grow and change your little personality gets bigger and bigger, giggling and teasing us more each day and waking up sillier and sillier. We can’t wait for all the many sounds you make to turn into real words, especially since you started saying “ma-ma”!

With all the smiles comes the challenges of growing up too. Teething is tough work (especially four at the same time!) and so is being old enough to realize you’re separated from mama and papa and miss them. Runny noses and upset tummies don’t make it easier. There were plenty of tears this month too but mama and papa hope through them all that you also learn we will always be right here for all of them, too. We love you, Morris-sasaurus!

Love,

Mama
