Dear Morris,
Lucky you, your third month brought you even more tools to express your already-so-expressive self. And boy oh boy, are you expressing yourself! The best being your big smile which wakes us up each morning and distracts us each time we’re at the changing table changing your diaper. Then there is your “almost” giggle. It made it’s first appearance gazing at mom’s hot-mess of a hair bun and while flying on mom’s legs above her. You thought it was wonderful! We can’t wait for all of the big giggles that are lurking in the near future. And of course, there are your powerful coos which allow you to chat with us even louder and with even more intent, now. You already have lots to say!
Your lips purse in the cutest way when you “oooo” and you make us swoon as you develop a love for your blankets, pulling them up to your face to cuddle when you’re sleepy. You’re still so cuddly but are also enjoying so much more play time, swinging at objects, exploring colors and sounds, and finally enjoying tummy time. We love that you’re getting used to going on walks and trips out and about, often making sure we keep the cover of the stroller down so you can see what’s happening above you (when you’re not fast asleep). It’s no surprise you love the trees after your intrigue with the house plants. You stare upwards at their branches and leaves in awe, until your eyes are too heavy to stay open any longer.
Sometimes when you sleep, we check to make sure you’re still breathing and I’ll admit I find myself just staring at you far too often. I could watch you all day, wondering what you are seeing, thinking, learning. What a crazy big love this is. I feel so lucky to get to feel it for my whole life, thanks to you!
Love,
Mama
